CCPIT Patent & Trademark Law Office

CCPIT Patent & Trademark Law Office (CCPIT Law Office) is an intellectual property law firm headquartered in Beijing, China. It has over 480 staff including 216 patent and trademark attorneys, among whom 56 are qualified lawyers, and also has around 35 patent engineers. CCPIT Law Office provides prosecution, litigation, administrative enforcement, transaction and consultation services relating to patents, trademarks, copyright, trade secrets, trade dress, domain names, anti-unfair competition, licensing and other intellectual property-related matters.
== History ==
A trademark agency was established in January 1957 when the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), which is a membership based nongovernmental trade promotion organization, was authorized by the government to organize a trademark agency to handle exclusively foreign-related trademark matters. Until the mid-1980s, the agency was the sole foreign-related trademark agency in China.
A patent agency was organized within CCPIT in 1984 when the Chinese Patent Law was issued. Authorized by the government, the agency was the first Chinese intellectual property law firm to handle foreign-related patent matters. After receiving training from other countries, professionals of the agency were actively involved in the establishment and development of the patent system in China. They organized training courses for Chinese professionals, translated essential intellectual property readings, established connections with foreign counterparts, and participated in the drafting of the Chinese Patent Law and related laws and regulations.
By merging the two agencies in 1993, CCPIT acquired a team of the most experienced professionals in China.
